Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Default No compression

Hello everyone,

I am new on the post writing from Belgium, Europe and trying to solve a technical problem on my Cherokee Liberty KJ petrol 2,4l engine from 2005.
After a broken timing belt, I have replaced it and tried to start the engine. Result no compression.
I have dismantled the cylinder head and checked it thoroughly. No twisted valves, compression check on the bench, all OK.
Cylinder head back on the engine, all reassembled correctly and tried to crank again the engine. No compression.
I towed the car in second gear to be sure to have oil pressure for the automatic valve adjustment system and no positive result.
Cranking the starter still no compression.
Does anyone have an idea to solve the problem.
Thanks for your return.

All the Best,

Olivier

Oliver something sounds wrong here. No compression on any cylinder when installed, but no leaking on the bench? Suspect the timing belt is on wrong.
