3.73 gears? what engine/transmission you have? reason being is my 97' has all those from factory also but it has 3.55 gears. mines the 4.0l aw4. mine was as far as I can tell, built with off roading in mind, upcountry lift and package, full skids, lsd rear, rear sway delete, tow package, tow hooks, full size spare, etc....

think about it like this, most jeeps have a worn down suspension which would mean sagging. the upcountry came with HD leafs with a higher weight load/capacity meaning it probably has a better chance of not sagging/ wearing down. so what might seems like 2 inches isn't lol factory stock was 17 inches from middle wheel to bottom of flair, the upcountry is about 18-18.5

its a 8.25 lol build sheet states it an the tag on it stated it. pics also helped because it has the lip on the bottom that distinguishes it as a 8.25.
the upcountry wasn't what decided which axle you had, it was if your system came with ABS or not [ABS got the d35/without ABS got (d44? early early models?)/8.25]. early models without ABS would have the 27 spline 8.25 so you could have gotten either a turdy five(yes I'm making fun of it lol) or 8.25 with a upcountry package, later models I do believe just started using the 29 spline 8.25. mines a 97' and it has the factory 29 spline 8.25 with a factory limited slip diff.
