Default New lifts - what you will need

I'm looking at and about to buy a 2001 Cherokee sport. Its going to be a daily driver for a while until it's time to keep it just for the trails. But I want to start with a 3 inch lift and some decent wheels/tires for now. I'm looking at this Rough Country lift: http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html

It got me wondering if I'd need anything else. I see a lot of talk about new brake lines and t case drops...but not sure if those are things I need to be concerned about.

I guess I also figured there would be some other newbies on here like myself who might have some of the same "entry level" questions for new projects.

Thanks for your help!

You wont get a drive line vibration with a three inch lift its low so there is no reason for it so I am gonna have to throw in the bull sh*** flag

first off welcome

when running a 3" lift you wont need to upgrade steering untill you get to 4"+
RC is a great choice for lifts. Some ppl say to stay away from AAL as the tend to sag a bit over time, and if your old leafs are already saggy they wont give u the full 3" of lift. so you may want to look into getting full leaf packs or making a bastard pack. For a 3" lift there is really nothing you will need extra, altho it is different on some ppls rigs. you may find you will need longer brakelines. some do some dont. Other things to look into with a 3" lift but dont really need right away are, Lower control arms, swaybar disconnects, extended brakelines, adj trac bar. if you notice any vibs at all from a 3" lift, then a 1/2" tcase drop will work fine, u can either make one, buy one, or buy a 5speed crossmember as they are 1/2" lower then an auto. but running with everything the kit supplys will work just fine and no other things will be needed. all the things i listed are just upgrades to think about later in the future

97+ are prone to vibes more than 96's and older. Has to do with the yoke design. There have been people that install a 2" bb and get vibes. Every xj is different.
