New Gears: What manufacturer
Yep, I'm probably going to get every opinion under the sun, but about to build up new HP Dana30 and looking for Gear recommendations. I have searched the forums, and the most recent stuff is from 2012 so... (yes, I know, I should get a 44, but the cost is PROHIBITIVE at this point, so I'm doing a 30!)
What's good, what's crap? Motive is what I am leaning toward. Yukon? Standard? Nitro, RC or Rusty's? Are Spicer really worth x2 or x3 the price these days?
If you've recently geared, or have had them for a year or so, what's worth it or not?

from what I've gathered and not had anyone deny yet is that all gears are cut and made the same way using the same material. no one can really seem to tell the difference. so I'm convinced it's a crap shot. support local businesses who sell gears. or if you go with a vendor go with RWKHaussupply. he is awesome. brand name like motive, USA standard, G2 etc shouldn't matter if you go that route. just keep in mind if you pay more than $150 for D30 gears you're probably paying too much!
personally I'd just have Robert at RWKHaus send me everything I need.

I've ran Motive as well as some other cheaper gears and while they work just fine they tend to be a little louder than others. I run Yukons now and have in my last several sets of axles and like them. They are quieter and the warranty is pretty good as well. The USA Standard are made on the same line but I've heard the tolerances are quite as strict but who knows. I get my stuff, axles, joints and gears from Davesoffroadsupply.com, seems to have the best prices on Yukon and USA and he's an easy guy to deal with and a fellow wheeler.

I've never been able to hear gears over the exhaust lol. I will agree Yukon is top notch and I haven't had a product from them I haven't absolutely loved yet
