I am replacing the floor pans in my 93 Cherokee, they were in pretty rough shape. From the factory it looks like the floor pans were tack welded and then coated with seam sealer. When I replace them should I just completely weld the seam or just tack weld them and use seam seal seam sealer again? Is there a benefit either way? Also I plan on under coating when this project is done so I don't ever have to replace again...hopefully!

 

In my opinion, weld it all. Really the question is how safe do you feel with it one way or the other.

 

I'd stitch weld it around the edges till it was completely welded. Then put sealer on the welds. Hate to see you get into water and then the floor start filling up if the sealer broke loose.
