New Cat?
Just got a performance curve 2.5" cat back with a super 44 installed on my jeep. The stock cat is still on it and I was wondering if replacing it with a thunderbolt 2.5" cat would beef up the sound even more.
I read from some places that changing the stock cat has a great effect on the sound and others that it does not. I also saw that replacing the cat on a obd2 Cherokee may throw a cel light. Is this actually true or was he just saying that to cover himself for the small chance that it would happen.
The cat. model I want to get is 425250.

Depends on if your current one is clogged at all I'd imagine.
It'll def help free up exhaust flow, you'll get a bit of gain. Not tons, but some. I think its worth the money.

I ran that cat (and still do) on my 97. It cost me about 40 bucks, and I scrapped my old, beat up cat for $80. as for a different sound, I didn't notice anything really, I ran a plated stock muffler behind it. I like my jeeps quiet, not obnoxious. I did the small cat because it was easy to tuck away and less vunerable to rocks. It has taken a beating too, is quite dented and no issues.
Didn't trip a CEL either.
