As some of you already know, I've been giving the old XJ a facelift
Sprayed the whole thing with bedliner and then sanded that to remove some of the texture and top coated it with satin green and black. I was going to wait to post pics until I could find my good camera and it was totally finished but am getting a little anxious
So here's a few before and after pics taken with my phone.... Not the best quality and they don't really do it justice but I'll get better ones up in a couple of days when I finish it.... Think of these as teasers
Before/At the start:

All bedlined:

And finally with some color:

Roof rack, 4.5 lift & 32x11.50's on soft 8's coming very soon

I give up, Why did you leave the upper qrts. bedlined? If you don't mind me asking.
I've seen several done this way and thought they looked good. I think the trend probably started to mimic the armored quarter panel look.... I had a sticker cut for the gas lid that really helps tie it together IMO. I put it on yesterday after these pics where taken. What brand of bedliner did you use, and how much did it take? I am seriously going to do this!

I used rust-o-lium bedliner in the can from wal-mart for $7.49 per can. I think it took 7 cans but that included some sample boards I did as well. If you're topcoating it and only using the liner for texture you can get by with 4 or 5 cans but for full black coverage I'd get 7.Originally Posted by DJKnightmare

You could've bought the gallon can and applicator kit for that price and had over 1/2 the gallon left over.
I did the top body line down and have done the entire floor in the interior. I still have nearly 1/2 left over.

Yea but it's a lot rougher finish and not as even. I wanted to sand the spray on for a hammered look....I didn't like the full texture of just liner. The way I did it, it's smooth enough to be waxed so it'll last much longer and be many times easier to clean.Originally Posted by TonyB

Oh, ok. The spray on Rustoleum liner I used on my front bumper is CONSIDERABLY more rough than the brushed on Rustoleum liner I used on the interior. I used the roller for the exterior and it is rougher.
I don't ever plan on waxing or using soap on this truck.

You're right it's rough when first sprayed (like 80 grit paper) but it sands unbelievably well and leaves a nice semi textured look. I plan to do the interior floor boards with the roll on since I imagine it's more durable than the spray

I use spray wax on mine. It makes it shiney mines also really rough. And I liked the thought of the rougher stuff. But at the time I also didnt know about that spray liner until recently when I did my car. I still like your idea of sanding it down and everything. It makes it pretty unique.

Ok! Back in High school I Had Pontiac Safari Wagon, with Brick contact paper, instead of the wood grain. We called the brick mobile.Originally Posted by HighRoller
