Regarding the mileage, it's a valid question, but don't make any assumptions. I have less than 3000 miles on my stroker in the past year, primarily because it's not my daily driver. I travel so much for work that I'm away more than I'm home (I'm posting from a hotel room right now). I drive the XJ around town when I'm not on the road and the weather's cool, but since the air conditioner doesn't work at the moment, it's hard to convince myself to brave the Texas heat on a grocery run in the summer when I have a nice cool sports car available instead. I'll probably drive it more as I get more of my build done.

Which brings me to what I suspect has happened here. Most people don't just drop a stroker into a stock XJ and leave it at that. I suspect this guy had a major build in mind, got through the engine swap part of it and stopped to let his wallet recuperate. The perhaps he lost interest or ran out of money or didn't have the time to put into it or had other things come up, and one day he realized the thing's just sitting there costing him insurance and registration fees and not really doing anything for him, at which point he has decided to let it go and recoup some of its value to use elsewhere.

Priorities change. Life happens. People sell projects mid-stream all the time without any nefarious reasons. The thing to do here is just ask a lot of questions and decide whether it's worth the risk.

That ad leaves a lot to be desired. Right off the bat you can tell it has the winch bumper, roof rack, cowl snorkel, and what I'm guessing is a 3" lift on 31s. Everything looks decent in the pictures but you'll never know until you're there and can really go through it. I would definitely pester the owner for more info. Tell him your several hours away and basically ask him to write you a novel about this jeep to get all the info you can.

How long he's had it. How many miles are on the rest of it. What he's done to do as far as maintenance and whatnot. Dig for some info.

Let's hypothetically say the motor is in perfect condition and the jeep has no rust and needs nothing. I don't think $5,000 is out of the ballpark. Chances are you will find something that is less than perfect though.

I have saw that jeep before I'm sure what made me think more about it were the street tires or AT's. It was at the Drag Strip in Tulsa where I raced at till late in 2013 and still go to for special races.

It was at "Midnight Madness" on Sat nights that started at 11am and ran till 5am grudge/money racing few rules lots of cars and $$$$ to be made. Didn't see it race but never watched much only worked on my car for next race. Still a lot of questions to be answered about it as far as quality of other parts. A 95 isn't worth that kind of money even if it had an LS1 in it with the drivetrain might be close to that price.

My last truck I only put 5,000 miles on it in 4 years, nothing wrong with it just not a D.D. is all, we just used it when we needed it and our Jeep will be the same, my wife and I have no desire to drive it every day it's just for fun and will be parked for the winter months like our last truck. Saves a lot on wear and tear and it's rust free and we want to keep it that way.

If it were me, I'd just go see it. I'd always rather gather information in person when I can. People will tell you the damnedest things when you're face to face that they won't put in an email.

Full disclosure: I'm an auditor for an insurance company. I know this from personal experience: People will tell you the damnedest things when you just ask them face to face.

I agree perhaps it was only driven on Sundays to church and back home or only to the bank.......For quick getaways 8-).

To be truthful mine is not a DD either and at times trailered to where we want to hit the trails just in case $hit happens as we all know it does. It is driven year around but parked inside when not in use, we are lucky to have a few options open to us. In turn my mileage does not run very much either when a lot of it is at 5-10mph tops.
