this guy is selling a 95 cherokee sport, straight 6 h.o. w/ 138k. so far not bad. however the passenger side front fender and rear fender above the tire is jack up pretty bad. the passenger side door lock was jacked up and his stereo was stolen. the rear wiper assembly is ripped off. there are tar stains all over because he was a roofer. that's all relatively minor. when you go to put it into 4 wheel drive hi it grinds... most the time, and about 1 out of three times it works. he wants to sell it for 2 grand however he said we can talk about price ( he said that before i ever mentioned anything so he is obviously ready to compromise) in my mind it's not worth more than 1200, mostly body damage, but if the grind thing is cheap and easy to fix, should i go for it. asthetics are not a huge concern i planned on this being kind of a project thing any way. at least with all the body damage i can get a good deal on it. let me know thanks. oh and the tires aren't matching so i'd have to buy a new set right off. thanks again.

yeah definetaly not worth 2k. id offer him 1k and see where he goes from there. as far as the "grind" you could just buy a used transfer case for less than $100, or break into and try fixing it could be the chain or something of the like

so a tc is that cheap huh. how hard is the work? i'm pretty smart but lack actual experience. thanks.

its not that bad swapping one out. gotta drop the crossmember, unbolt the six bolts (i think six) that hold it to the t-case, along with the linkage and driveshafts. look online for some write ups, search here and other forums you should find everything you need to know
