My new 1989 jeep cherokee 4x4 4.0L HO? (will find out)
I am quite excited I bought this for good price for the condition it is in compared to the others I have looked at.
Body has 220k miles
Engine has been rebuild and has 50k miles on it.
Transmission has been replaced.
New headliner
new battery
new alternator
Got it for 900.
Only serious rust I have found on the cherokee.
Yes finally headliner (previous car did not have any.)
Can anyone tell me what this goes to? Image below.

Unless someone swapped the motor, its not a HO. They didnt go to HO till 91
Looks alot better than mine, I got it for 1200 with tons of rust, a knocking motor, and some other fun stuff..

Judging by the Valve Cover, oil fill cap, dipstick handle and some other stuff, im pretty sure its a HO. Dont quote me on it though, all that stuff can be put on an older motor (though I see no point).
Another way to tell, what way is your oil filter mounted? It is this way on a Renix:
but on a HO it is horizontal right above the starter.

Edit: Where is the casting number on jeep cherokee so I can check that too?

Renix is Pre-HO and also Pre-Chrysler. While AMC owned Jeep the computer system that controlled the injection was made by Renault/Bendix, therefore it is called "renix". Chrysler bought Jeep/AMC in 87 but didnt go to their own injection system "High Output" until 91.
Im pretty sure you have the HO engine, but they kept the Renix computer system. It would be too much work to change everything over for the Chrysler computer (full vehicle wiring harness needed).

Ill post something in a minute...
See the Single open spots that have the contacts in them? Some are hot all the time, others are ignition switched. Find the one you want and use a blade connector crimped onto the lead for an inline ATC Blade Fuse holder, use a 10A fuse in it. Run your line to the CB.
