Smile My Door! My Rust!

Hello,

I just bought a 96 Cherokee yesterday with a strong engine and trans. As jeeps do, the trunk floorboard is pretty rusted. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what to do. There is a 4 inch whole near the exhaust.

Also my driver side door doesn't unlock and the door doesn't open. Any help?

I Love my new jeep and I want to keep it in great shape. any tips would be great.

Thanks!

Youll have to pull the carpet and cut out the rust, weld in new sheetmetal.
For the door, youll have to pull the inside panel and see whats going on inside there.
Where at in MI?

Cool thanks.

Yeah I pulled out the panel where the door handle is and lock switch. It seems like its stuck on lock or something I used wd40 but it won't pop into unlock position. I haven't taken a door apart and wondering if thats the next step.

I don't have a welder or metal cutter, I'll have to find a friend that will do it. Thanks

I live in Commerce MI. West on Pontiac and east of milford. 45 minutes outside of detroit.

When I had to do my rear floor i cut it out with a grinder and riveted/siliconed it down, no leaks so far wish I'd used thicker steel. There are a few pics in my album.
