Default Moving seats

I'm going to be replacing the floor in my XJ this summer. Any reason I wouldn't be able to remount my drivers side seat about 3-5" back. I'm 6'6" so the extra leg room would be awesome. I know I would need to relocate the seat supports but that should be a big deal since its all coming out anyway. Any reasons this wouldn't work?

Check with your passengers first. The seatbelt is designed to work within the stock seats sliding limitations, 5" is pushing where the lap bar would grab you.

Just cage it and use 5pt harnesses.

Its a DD so a cage is a little over kill. And I'm only thinking about moving the driver seat. The rest can stay where they are at.

You'd need to remount the seat belts and I'm not sure how you'd do that with the shoulder strap. Lap belt and buckle would be easy to move.

Might be something I just have to play with when I get to it. I have seen the big boy brackets that move the seat 3". I guess that should be safe. Don't think they would be allowed to mass market if it wasn't or there would be some type of bad press or forum post somewhere if there were issues. I'll do some research on that. If I don't find anything bad I'll just stick with 3" as the maximum.

I feel your pain 6'5" here with 2 bad knees. In my XJ I have to stop way to often (about 30 min) and get my legs out just to keep the pain down to tolerable levels. Had a shop look at it and they advised on it they couldn't do it.

Wish it sat like my ZJ and had all the seat comforts it has
