Default Model Distinction on XJs?

Just wondering if anyone knows what the difference between the model types are..I know that the Laredo has a different rocker panel/trim and fender type, but I know that there are Cherokee Countrys, Pioneers, Limiteds, and Classics..are there any major differences? My dad just sold my friend an 89 Pioneer and I couldnt find any difference between it and my Laredo..
Thanks!

That's pretty much it - XJ is the model, and base, Pioneer, Laredo, Sport, Limited - those are all trim levels.

The only time there's really a difference is that the later models had an "Upcountry Suspension package" - something like a 1" lift and slightly larger tyres. The rest is simply differences between interior/exterior trim, presence/absence of power accessories, and the like.

Jake, my XJ is a 1991 Sport model. It basically has manual everything. The only options I see on it over base are AC, CC, Sun Roof (that may have been dealership installed, though) It's just a cheap pop up type. Oh, my XJ also had the bigger rear axle. It came with a ChryCo 8.25. I have a D44 in it, now.

Thanks guys, just a little curious. I love the exterior look of my Laredo and I dig the fact that pretty much everything is power when im street cruisin' with my friends, but just a little curious to see how long all the power options will hold up. Thanks again!

How long they will hold up??? Everything still works in my '92 Limited and always has. Except that last Summer the driver window threw a hissy fit, but it has fixed itself without my intervention.

Yeah, agreed. My drivers window fixed itself too. Maybe I read too much into it? Idk? Heard from some wheelin vets that its just another thing to go wrong? Whatever though lol. Guess it just depends on the type of wheeling you do.

I like the way your XJ looks, too. I'd love to find a 91 Laredo, Briarwood or Country to have as a second rig. I got my Sport for wheeling because I didn't want all of those nice power accessories to quit working the first time I took it through a river crossing....lol.

Thanks Buck, I like the rocker panel accent on yours! Yeah true, I didnt know how much I wanted to lift it last year when I got it, so It didnt really affect the choice of what kind of XJ i bought. Regardless, I paid 1100 for it in near perfect condition so nothing was really a negative at that point.
