In OH its illegal, but two years ago when I had my wrangler I drove around any day I could without doors or mirrors, and didn't have any issues with the local cops

Here its legal to drive without doors with vehicles that were designed to have doors removed. XJs were not designed that way and we will get tickets for doing so, however I can remove my mirrors if i want.

i think youll have to check with your local PD before you do anything. riding around doorless and or mirrorless is not worth a ticket.

Find youself a junkyard mirror. Any make or model will do, as I am assuming you are not thinking about "looks" as much as "function".
Get a couple of strong magnets. Old computer hard drives are a great source for very strong magnets. There are usually 2 in each. If you don't have a "crashed" hard drive laying around, ask your local computer place, they usually have boxes of them. Older hard drives are usually better. Engineer a way to attach these magnets to the mirror. If you use these magnets I will gaurantee they will not come off while going down the road at 75 mph.
If you are worried about the paint job, glue a little rubber to the magnets.

Have yet to find any laws that requires me to leave the doors on!!! I have found out that in COLORADO - the laws require a mirror inside , and at least 1 mirror outside that allows you to recognize objects 200 feet away. I made my doors removable almost 8 years ago and have never been stopped while i have them off!!!!--During the summer i rarely have them on--- However every state, county, and city perceives the laws differently and as such i can't help but think that some day a pimple face, fresh out of school, will stop me to give me an invitation to stand in court and defend my decision to enjoy going doorless..
