Has anyone ever done a manual swap with at 97-01 XJ? How difficult is it and is it worth it? Since my 98 XJ is now totaled I'm looking at another one, but I have yet to find another 5spd. I will be keeping the 98 so I'd have the entire vehicle as a donor.

Yes, it has been done many, many times. It's actually relatively easy. I think you have to shorten the output shaft a bit. Everything to hang the clutch pedal is already there. You have to bypass the neutral safety switch (NSS) which is pretty easy but you will have a check engine unless you replace the computer. I've never done it, but I did look into it a bit and there's plenty of info out there to get it done.
