Default LSD road manners in snow/ice?

Does anyone know a limited slips manners in icy snowy roads?
I have a 8.25 rear end, which is nice for its added strength, but unfortunate for its utter lack of aftermarket SELECTABLE locker. An ARB air locker is way out of my budget, and need good road manners esp. in snow, so I have been studying lsds.

I drive alot of miles in the winter and I cant have the lack of manners on road with an auto locker.... an from some reviews ive read, lsd's have typically better general road manners, but none I could find specifically comment on snow driving.
Also does anyone have any thoughts on the Detroit Trutrac... I like its lack of clutch plates.

So any advice?... scathing words?

An LSD on snow or ice should function just like an open diff. I have an open chryco 8.25 rear and have driven in some crazy winter conditions (I live in Michigan).

When on snowy or icy roads, the open diff will spin both tires instead of the usual one wheeled wonder.

An LSD rear end will spin both tires aswell, but in some situations will throw power quickly back and forth to both wheels in quick bursts.
