Default Lookin for a jeep, this one any good?

A local dealer has a 2000 4.0 XJ with 110k on the clock. Brand new bfgoodrich TAs on a 3inch rough country lift. Also has an alpline stereo w/ amp and cb antenna. Its in decent shape with very minor rust. Sticker price is 4999, but saw it online for 4500. Does this sound good and what things would you check. First Jeep, thanks for any help guys.

Seems a little high to have rust issues. I'd keep looking. There's plenty of solid Jeeps out there for that price or even less. JMO
And Welcome to CF.

sounds about right from a dealership...

things to look for:
-rusted floorboards/rockers/basically crawl under there and check it out!
-regularly maintained
-coolant in the oil, could be cracked head (the later models suffer from this problem)
-if you are looking to 4wheel it, does it have the dana 35 rear axle? its weaker and not suited for running large tires/locker
-rear main seal leak/oil leaks

Thanks for the info. I'm going back to check it out again. How would I tell if it has the dana 35?

Craigslist can be your best friend. There are great deals on Jeeps almost everytime I log on. I just got a Cherokee about 3 weeks ago from CL. I would say you could get a better deal there. Just my opinion

Try to find one some grandma drove. God knows how he treated that rig when they took it out, or if they even washed the damn thing after taking it out. He might be one of those highschool kids that drive around covered in mud for a week because it looks cool. Better to start stock and work your way up. I got my 2000, almost mint paintjob, around the same mileage, with 31's and stock suspension, perfect interior for 3k. And thats because I didn't have much time to shop due to leaving the country and had to ship it out.

P.S. I got mine off Craigslist
