The only rarer race SUV I can think of is a Saleen Explorer XP8. The GMC Typhoon are awesome to.

Quote: TRUTH!!!

Some folks assume it's a plain old S-10/15.....

A former coworker traded in his immaculate IROC z28 for a Syclone. Got to ride in it a couple times....

Hoe

Lee

Crap!!!!!

For those that have never seen one....
One of the best looking trucks to roll out of a factory.

Quote: Modified early 90's HO 4.0 5-speed manual 2 door 2wd 4.0 liter might be close with one of those.... Ehhh what the hell.
How modified are we talking? What kind of HP?

The Typhoon/Syclones have a turbo 4.3 liter putting out at least 280hp and 360lb-ft and it is also AWD. The Typhoon was as faster than most sports cars of the era, and even some of the sports cars that are 10yrs NEWER. The Syclone was almost a full second faster in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile than the Typhoon.

Typhoon: 0-60: 5.3 seconds, 1/4 miles: 14.1 at 95mph
Syclone: 0-60: 4.6 seconds, 1/4 mile: 13.4 at 98mph

I don't think a modified XJ could keep up with this SUV.

With everything done to it(cam, high flow horseshoe intake, header, bored tb, tuned, everything and anything you can think of) but stroking or f/i... It could definently come witin a few mph of the trap speed of the Typhoon through the 1/4

A decently modified xj could. Back in 04' my 2door/ 2wd, 5speed xj ran 13.8's at 104 mph on 225 street tires.

BUT, it was a bottle fed xj.

? My friend's 4.8 Silverado can get a 101 trap(good for 12.9x run with perfect traction) but only get 14.4-14.7 on 100 shot.

104 mph trap: ~ 125-150 shot = Very very risky

I believe it though... The trap seems awful high indicated that it was a stronger shot...

About a year ago, driving through San Francisco, I saw a Syclone that someone was using as a work truck. Paint stains, dents, scratches, the thing looked beat to hell. It even had a lumber rack on it. Now, Im all for USING a truck, but this dude either did not give a single **** cause he had money, or he just didnt know what he had. Makes me sad sometimes
