Default long arm question

Alright so since my heep only has a short arm on it I wanna do a long arm conversion. But with no money to buy the full kit and the fact I have more pride in making it then buying it id rather build it myself.

I have a 1 1/2" solid steel rod, about 8' long, then a 1 3/8" solid steel rod about 4' long if I have them drilled on both ends and then use rod ends for the attachment to the axle and frame then from axle to long arm would they work or am I being confusing.

Please help I know there's a lot of threads on building them but none that show what I have will work. Plus they don't help with the geometry of building it. Help would be awesome.

Most people don't use solid rod because of the weight. My rod ends that I have for mine have a 1.25" thread so your rod wouldn't work with them so you'd need a smaller rod end.

1.5" should be ok. Depends on what the material actually is. It is very possible that it is not as strong as 2" DOM which is what you should be using (.25" wall). If you can find out what the material is you can look up its load rating and compare. Thats the only way I would take the chance.

2" .25 wall DOM usually runs 10-12 bucks a foot for a full stick and a little more for custom lengths. Full sticks range from 20-25 feet.

Careful where you put the welded seam on the square to protect it from bashing on rocks.
