I just got my first jeep Cherokee it's a 1997
I had it for about 2 months now and was thinking about putting a lift kit on it but I have no clue what to look for, all I know is that I want a 4.5 in lift.
Also I don't know what size tires would go good with that size lift. and it's a daily driver but I want it to have off road capabilities.

And info or suggested lift kits would be helpful

I would say for a 4.5 inch kit I would go with 33's or 35 if u can fit them without cutting fenders.

I recommend Rough Country for your 4.5" lift. It's a good quality product and, so far, nobody else offers a kit for the XJ for the same price or cheaper. When I did my initial lift of 4.5", I went with 32" tires. That was a good combination. However, if you're like me with 32s you will want to regear your axles before long. Some guys can live fine with the stock gears and bigger tires. I re-geared to 4.56 to get my Jeep back in it's stock power band and to get some of my good mileage back. If you don't ever plan on going higher with your lift or bigger with your tires, 4.10 gears would actually be better. Once you get bit by the XJ modification bug, it's hard to stop making it ever bigger and better.

Get as complete of a kit as you can. You'll thank me later for that advice! I have dozens of friends that have RC lifts and we all love them. And don't half as% it. Good luck.

I have Hurd a lot of good and bad things about rough country can anyone tell me any info on them

i got a 4.5 rusty lift real good reliable and i run 33 micky thomsons with cut fenders tho
