for the gearing, if there's no tag on the diff cover stretched between 2 bolts that tell you the gearing, then you'll have to remove the cover and look on the edge of the ring gear for the number. in that group of numbers will be the amount of teeth on the pinion and the amount of teeth on the ring gear.
something like 11-39 or something like that.
you would then take the 39 and divide it by 11 to get 3.54
btw, you probably have 3.55 if it's an auto.

alright perfect i will try that tomorrow also and let you know how it goes thanks again. and it is auto but it has been opened before and the cover looks like it might not be original only reason i think that it might have upgraded gearing. and has crazy acceleration compared to my friends cherokee which also gets me to think that. it wants to peel out straight off the whole everytime

it is possible you have 4.56 gears.
i had it wrong, the ring gear number is stamped first, so the larger number then the smaller pinion gear number.
