thought it would be cool to see what ppl are using for flares, there isn't a ton of options so it will be interesting to see what ppl got creative. I myself got some BW flat Flares and love em.

BW flat flares with 31x10.5s with 1.25" spydertrax spacers.

 

Has anyone had issue with the part the stock flares clip into rusting out and breaking? I took mine off to paint them and within that day, one of the rear ones flew off while driving , I had just spent 15.00 on paints and accessories to paint them too.

 

I painted mine with duplicolor bed armor i must say they look great.... are the flat flares you have much bigger than stock flares ?

 

Yea they tend to rust, when I took mine off to install my bw flares, all of them broke except for like 2, best is to leave ur flares on and just tape around em to paint
On the website it says the provide 4.5" of tire coverage, the fronts seem wider then the rears, but yea they are bigger then stock, plus they open up the wheel wells cause u have to trim to allow them to fit.

And now... They won't even fit right... I painted the rusted attachment to stop it from getting worse. Dupli color rust stopper and wal mart black paint helped.

But now I have to build the bottom up where it rusted out so I can re attach them with sheet metal screws and it will stay. Basically this went from a small project to work. I also took the bumper ends off and found rust so I scoffed it down so I can fiber glass it and bondo it back too. fml.

 

Also Flat Flares, I kinda like them

I only did my front fenders due to the front suspension flexing enough to rub with 31"s on 4.5" lift. What I did was cut out an inch and a half off my metal and bend over another quarter of an inch for added strength. Then I cut an inch off the flare edge and moved the flare up about one and a half inches and cut off the front bottom to make it even with the bumper. Because I cut off the flares mounting holes and moving the flare I had to drill new ones in both the flare and fender. There seemed to be a lack of strength so I made some braces with one inch flat steel to bolt on the inside of the fender using the flares bolts and a couple more just through fender and braces along with cutting and drilling the stock fender support at the top center of the opening. Then I put silicone on the bent over edge so that the valley wouldn't fill with junk and rot. Next I lined the inside of the fender and painted the outside where I had re moved some paint. I then filled the eyesore of a space created when the stock flare is moved north and painted the flare after smoothing the edges. Finally the flares and braces were mounted with stainless hardware. I do still need to do something to protect the door hinges now that they are so vulnerable to the elements. Overall there is alot more room but the tires still rub at full stuff, I guess I need longer bumpstops.

 

I also went with the Flat flares, but I spent some time and painted them to keep a two tone trim other then black on my rig.... Also sanded and painted the bottom of the door panels and the bumpers while I was at it....
