I'd suspect the paint would chip off in no time. Unless you got some sort of flexible paint.

All the coils I've seen have come painted.

I just got a set with some good rust on them. I'd like to clean them up.

From what I've researched you can paint coils with anything from spray paint to auto paint and it will adhere based off of how well it is prepped and primed without cracking/flaking.

Might do mine when I do my undercoating since I'm going to pull them anyway to spray it on and also to fix a bumpstop.
