Swapping, blew the engine on New Years eve. Been doing what I can in between work and family. Didn't know thing one before I started the swap, but with the peeps on the forum things are going pretty good. I got the new engine dropped in last night with help from 00jeepXJ. I'll get the old engine on the stand, check for damage and if possible turn it in to a project (rebuild/stroker).

I can't see the picture, but I'm assuming its the hydro booster. When it works, it works great. But when something fails it gets expensive. Normally when one goes bad, I convert it to a vacuum booster.

Dang! That motor's ugly! Never thought I'd see a 4.0 that needs a wash and a shave! ...LOL... Good Luck with the swap - can't wait to see the finished product.

My '99 4.0 is kept pretty clean except for leaking oil filter adapter and power steering hose.

Looks good!. No visible rust up top, and the wiring is all nice and tidy. Whe I first got my 93, when you opened up the bonnet it was like unzipping a burst cushion.. all these random black, red, green and blue wires just sprang out at you!. They were everywhere..took a while to bunch like with like and cable tie them all out of the way. Amazing how much more refined the 99 looks compared to my 93. I know this is kind of a geeky thread, but it is interesting (for me anyway), to see how the engines have been modified from one year to the next.
