Default Latest build date for 96?

I was just wondering if anyone knows when the cuttoff date was for the '1996' year model cherokee? Mine shows mfg date of 10-96 on the door, seems kinda late for a 96 model. Would explain why i keep finding '97 parts on my jeep though. Havent changed oil in rear diff yet but im hoping it means i have 29 spline axles.

The emissions label under the hood will tell you what year model your XJ is. If you have a steel rear hatch you have a 97.

so it would be classified as a 97 classic if it says 97 under the hood?

emissions tag says its a 96, i was just curious when the cuttoff was.. I felt a little better bout the mid year swap from 27 spline to 29 spline seeing such a late mfg date. WHen i service the drums ill pull the axle and find out for sure.
