You must have never driven or been in a fj80 it is basically a bigger more expensive xj. Straight six that runs for ever. About the same mpg. It's more comfortable. And they are beasts off-road. They also can come with locking diffs from the factory. A fj80 is the only vehicle I would give up my xj for.

So you come over to cherokeeforum and 2 out of your 3 posts are about how you'd prefer a fj80? Sorry but I'll stick with my American vehicle.

The FJ80 Is also over 1000Lbs heavier stock, has less HP and TQ, has not even half the aftermarket available, 2000lbs less towing capacity, Is over a foot longer... Na, Ill stick with my XJ in just about every scenario. The exception would be if I was building a rig for a LGBT parade.

So stick to your american vehicle, Im not trying to sell you anything. I am just stating my opinion to the question asked. You have no experience with the fj80 so you cannot answer the question I did. The fj80 is better in every way than the xj. Those are just facts. Then again we are comparing a 60k landcruiser to a 31k Jeep. I love my xj but I am not blinded by that same love.

Its only a foot longer and has a comfortable backseat and even a 3rd row. Towing capacity is the same. The fj80 has a huge aftermarket comparable to the xj. 1997 Fzj80 212/275 vs 1997 XJ 190/225 I dont know where you got your info but it is all wrong.

Some very gay flex.

I guess "facts" are subjective to. To me, weighing an extra 1/3 of total weight and having less power does not mean "better in everyway" You are correct about towing capacity. First two links said 3500 for the FJ. Further inspection leads to them having the same 5k rating.

edit- Aftermarket for the XJ far exceeds the FJ80... Ive helped a couple buddies try to build them... I guess you've never really shopped around for an XJ before huh?

FJ80- 4.0 Liter 155-bhp OHV inline 6 cyl.,
220 ft-lbs. @ 3000 rpm
Isn't the FJ80 what you were talking about?
Turns out I was right... FJ80 does have towing capacity of 3500.

Weight being a disadvantage is also subjective. It has more power than the xj. If that is not enough power for you, you can install a factory supercharger without cutting a hole in your hood. Everything you can get aftermarket for an xj you can get for a fzj80. I dont take my jeep on trails so what I want is different from you. I would trade my xj fro a fzj80. You dont have to agree with that. People in Africa and Australia use fzj80s for a reason. Have a good day.

fzj fj same thing only change is the engine.

Meh, I would imagine they are easier to.get ahold of in places like that. If you like them so be it, Ill gladly stick with my XJ. Even if you meant FZJ, the extra weight still gives the XJ a better power to weight ratio. (16lb per HP vs 23lb per HP) Even more so when it comes to TQ. You can buy an XJ with a blown engine for dirt, throw a Stroker in it and blow those numbers even further in favor of the XJ for the cost of a decent FZJ80. Oh well, a few lost souls leave more XJs for the rest of us!

you can buy a fj80 stroke it supercharge it and blow an xj out the water too. Do you use tq or hp offroad? FJ80 17tq per pound vs XJ 13 tq per pound.

I think you did your math wrong bro.

FJ80 4751lbs : 4751/212 = 22.4 hp per lb : 4751/275 = 17.27 tq per pound

XJ 2928 lbs : 2928/190 = 15.4 hp per lb : 2928/225 = 13 tq per pound

keep spewing it, please.

Lol where did you go to school? Remaining number is lbs. I gave the XJ 3300 and came up with 16. If you have 4790 cookies (Lbs) and split them between 212 students (HP) how many cookies does each student get? The answer is 22.5 cookies (lbs) per student(HP)

Edit- 23 HP per lb would mean your FJ has over 110,000 horse lol.
