One of the girls I work with is one of the top female paddlers in the world. She drives a Subaru with a Yakima rack. She will show up with 5 kayaks on that rack and never think twice about it.

I would think anything will hold one kayak, as long as you secure it good!

Yeah, I have 4 in the picture. I've had 5 on it once with the longer bars. It supported the weight just fine but the wind resistance made riding down the road rather sketchy...

Yakima racks are strong. That's for sure.

I strap my yak right into of my basket rack with two wratchet straps never had a problem. I thought about going with some actual kayak racks but after seeing the price, yeah I'm good! Lol

Maybe, but I wouldn't. Depending on the length of the kayak you're going to want more width between the bars.

For a while I just used the factory cross bars when transporting a single yak.

Oh I see. Ya the factory bars should be fine for awhile. Does the paddle fit inside the jeep? I'm assuming it does. They're only what, 5 feet long?lol

I hear fishing with cement blocks tied around your waist is the new trend. You should try it next time you go fishing.
