at body shop labor rates. they may total it but tell them no and that you want to keep it.. if they try to total it ask them if they could fix it w/out paint etc etc to minimize the justification of totaling it

Love that photo Crispy "and was in a way worse wreck"...I'll say!
OP, I wonder if two or three mounts didn't break/let your engine cream the radiator.

Sounds good. What I was thinking is that the Jeep stopped, and the motor didn't. (That happens). It IS a ways though from the fan to the radiator, it might be OK.

This was my thought as well. IF the 3 passenger mount bolts sheared off the motor would drop several inches until the bottom of the distributor came to rest on the part of the mount still attached. This is good because it keeps the engine from dropping to far. However it's far enough for the cooling fan to begin to strike the right side rail just barely.
No total. $3200 and it'll be back on the road. Might even have some nifty air hissing in afterward. I got hit on the driver side like that while sitting at a red light.

My adjuster just called me today, and it might be totaled. And yes I was thinking of how much different this would've been, if I had an aftermarket bumper. Especially one like the jcr crusader winch bumper.
My '99 grandam got hit and just messed the fender up something fierce and blew the tire. Other than that it was fine. They gave me almost $2500 for the car(total loss). The buyback was like $500. I just told em to keep it though and bought the jeep. I have been wanting one for awhile and there were some engine/trans probs with the grandam popping up anyway. I lucked out. Only paid 1k for the car to start with.
If they total it they may give you a decent amount. As long as the unibody is fine you could easily replace the fender, hood, grill, etc for $2,500 with some change left for new stuff and, at least in Texas, the bluebook on jeeps are far higher than a grandam SE1 base model.

I never saw a picture of mine before it was fixed but I imagine it was something like this. New hood, pas-side fender, header panel, and bumper stuff should do it. Don't bother being nice to the hood, it's wrecked, get a pry bar under it or cut it open something. And if you get it back remember, the junk yard is your friend!
