Alright so ive been thinking about ripping out my interior headboard, it sags like a mother and is just plain annoying, my plan is to eventually cut through the roof. Has anyone done this? I understand the roof is structural to some point but i plan to put circular hatches above the passenger seat and above the back driver side. The hatches would be similar to that of a panzer tank. Any thoughts?

Thats true but ive never seen a seal tight hatch placed on an xj, in my mind i envision something along the lines of two metal rings, one under the roof and one above, then there would be a rubber seal or membrane type material between the rings and the roof, then i would imagine that i would run bolts through the metal rings rubber and roof, then the hatch would obviously be able to seal tightly. I cant say ive seen anything similar to it on a rig. For one i think it would be awesome and two i could have spotters stand through my roof while wheeling

Humm.........Why not just buy an APC to cruise around in they come up for sale in government auction's quite often, just apply to receive their upcoming auction mailings.
Their hatches are pretty water tight and bullet proof as well, plus it should keep the Zombies out.
