Hello quick question about a title for my Cherokee.
My dad was given a Cherokee by the company he works for because it was no longer running and needed a lot of work and it was no longer any use to them. He was given a bill of sale from them because they couldnt find the title. The last registration expired in 2007. I was wondering how I would go about getting the title for it. It was registered in New York.

Go to DMV.org and check out their "replacing a lost title" section. You may have to contact them about what state can take care of it if it is no longer in New York.
As long as you have that valid bill of sale, they should be able to hook you up.

 

I'm not sure how it works in your state, but in California you would take the bill of sale (and any other paperwork they gave him) to the DMV and apply for a lost "certificate of title". First you may want to get a signed statement from the company stating the title for the Jeep had been misplaced. That might make the process easier.

Aside from that, a FREE Cherokee is way cool!!!!!

 

If the company can provide proof of insurance and ID they can get a new title.
