Hey guys im sure were all interested in 4wheeling but not sure if anyone is into offroad racing. Ive been looking into alot more recentely. Looked at Jeepspeed, Short track, Baja, KOH and others. Well my dad used to wanna run in the Baja 500 on a dirtbike and i also want to but we would rather take our jeeps. Ive looked into the classes and my jeep is classified under 4 different classes. Which i think is pretty bada@@. Anyways do you guys think it would be worth chasing after? Any Advice or if you just wanna talk about it thatd be cool too!

My boys have this desert racing video and the first thing I wondered is why there were no XJ's there.......
One thing that I would look into is a definite deep look into the cooling system. I would look into the overall health of the drive train since it is really the trip from hell lol.... Before I go on any long trips from home I look over everything. Hell I give her an oil change even if its got another 1000 miles till its due. The longer the trip the harder I look at her.
Those races look rough but fun as all get out though. I bet it would be EPIC in an XJ for sure.

Maybe but not with a 4.0... LS1 and a 6 speed tranny would probably compete very well. Also 33s with a 3" lift, bumpstops, no fenders, and 1" backspaced rims.

Class motor can't succed 6 cylinders. It all depends on the class. People do the baja 1000 on 125 dirtbikes lol. Its not just about the competition but more the experience and getting to have a great time! Most offroad racing jeeps have the stock motor actually if not they have a 4.7 stroker. And all depends on class with taking fenders off and all that lolOriginally Posted by 2doors

Ya there have been xj's out there before but you just don't see it too often mainly cause its the trophy trucks that are popular and they really don't televise this stuff too much which I really wish they would.Originally Posted by Unknown XJ

Bone stock VW Beatles have raced in the Baja races, I don't see why an XJ couldn't do it.

That is very cool! But is it nessecary even in the stock class to run with a cage?

Is that something you want to risk. Hitting a wash at 50 and flipping could be deadly without one. Id say chech out the petty cash racing xj. You would have to reinforce almost everything. Its hell on an xj. Ive been thinking about building a short course xj or baja spec xj for a couple years now. Its going to take a lot of work just to keep the xj together. Good luck of you do try it man. Overbuild and haul ***Originally Posted by Cherokeekid4x4
