Its a sad day
The Jeep got smashed. Coming home from work tonight, I was heading to drop off two of my carpool and was nailed at an intersection by a red light runner. He was at least doing 30 and nailed the driver side fender. (I'll have pics tomorrow) Everyone was ok but shaken up (including the other driver.)
So tomorrow starts the process of calling the insurance and other fun stuff.
My Jeep was in the middle of the 3 lane and the cops had me move it to the side. I was so proud, she started without hesitation and moved over to the side under her own power. RAWR!
Not sure yet on how bad the damage on the underside is or if the insurance will total it. More than likely they will. Hopefully the damage isn't that bad and can be repaired. Initial damage report is the driver fender is trashed, the radiator is shot, the grill flew about 20 feet, the front driver door won't open and the passenger opens enough to get in and out. Luckily there were several witnesses one I think was an off duty cop.

That sucks. Glad to hear all are okay. If they total it, you can buy it back cheap and rebuild/make a trail only rig out of it. Just trying to find a silver lining for you.

Yeah, I think that front structure/subframe is tweaked and would classify as totaled. Buy it back from the insurance co. for a couple hundred bucks (they do this all the time-tell them you can use parts) and build a trail rig. Then use the insurance money to buy a decent XJ for a DD. JMO

First and foremost, glad to hear that everyone is OK. Now buy it back from the insurance company, cut off all the bent sheet metal, lift it, and wheel the snot out of it for many pleasurable years to come.
