Default It's another tire size thread of sorts.

I've got a LA 6.5 lift, 33s, 4.56 gears, upgraded steering etc etc.

I saw Rusty's new steel fender flare (really the only fender flare I like) and was considering giving them a go. With 3.5" of extra clearance there wouldn't really be a need to be that high anymore on 33s. Plus, it would look funky. I was planning on re-doing the rear with deavers leafs so the front I'll just need a new set of coils, shocks, and maybe a couple of other things. Prolly drop from 6.5 to 5.5 or 4.5. A lower COG would be nice but I really like where my Jeep sits now.

However, my buddy is now getting it in my head to stay at 6.5, install the fenders, and go 35s. Jeez, that might look cool but I don't know if that will be functional for my needs

My rig will be a DD when I return from overseas. I initially bought my rig for an offroad/hunting/toy and now switched to expedition so I have to consider both on and offroad when modding.

I guess a couple of questions. How much can I expect to loose in lift when I start to add armor, bumpers, etc? There might not be a need to change my lift.

I really like the performance of 33s and 4.56 gears. Is there really a need to go 35s with my needs? How is the performance power wise with 35s? I guess I don't see the point other than looking cool, some better ground clearance, and less MPG. If there is a functional point then I would consider it more. My JK and Fullsize dodge had 35s and I always wanted to go bigger but I just don't feel it with the XJ.

Well, go to 35s if you need the extra clearance under the diffs. If you don't wheel hard enough to need it, stick to 33s.
