I've been looking around various forums looking for some interior trim pieces to refurbish my interior before I sell it. I have found the parts I need, but only a few dollars under what new would cost. What gives. I guess with them no being in high demand, they need more money for the parts. IDK. The closest pull-a-part doesn't have any 97-up XJs.
are the 86-96 hoods the same as 97-01?

If you've seen guys selling used trim pieces for just a few dollars under the price of new, throat punch them and get your pieces somewhere else. XJs of all years are plentiful in the scrap yards. You just may have to look for one outside your local area. My son has completely restored the interior in his 87 base model XJ with pieces from an 88 Laredo. You can't tell his XJ was ever a base model. All of the power accessories wired up and work great. The nicer upholstery looks and feels much better, too.
