i have 92 cherokee about to get a new exhuast system from manifold and back and i wanted to get new intake, i dont really wana do a CAI because im afraid of water getting in and i dont want a snorkel so any other suggestions to make my jeep breathe a lil better?
I purchased a used drop-in k&n and I cut a pretty large chunk out of fender side of the airbox to allow more air to get in than the tiny stock opening. While the airbox was out I plugged all the holes in the inner fender near the air box to keep any water from splashing into the larger opening. Seems to work pretty good, I'm sure it flows as good as anything else, and I've never had water or mud get to the filter, and I've tried. Obviously just don't go in any water as deep as the airbox. Total cost was the $10 I paid for the filter at the swapmeet.

Paid $50 for mine... here it is.
So far so good, the plate behind the intake keeps out water and as you can see its storming out, yet when I popped the hood it was completely dry... Heat shield works ok too, definite notice in sound off the line and throughout the rev range... Average mpg jumped from 14.8 to 15.2 as well
-Bought the Spectre Cone Filter for $40 and the tube for $10 at o reillys....
