so me and some friends were going camping a few weeks ago when my jeep starts laggin on me then the rear end locks up. figured it was something wrong with the gears so we tried everything we could to limp it to the campgrounds but to no avail.. i was out in the boonies so i had to pay 400 bucks to tow her home.. i know nothing about rear ends so took it to my mechanic.. long story short its not the rear end but the e brake got locked up in the drum.. i just happened to have harvested rear discs off a liberty at a jy a few weeks prior so i figured id have them throw em on seein as how theyre already working on the rear end i took apart lol .. well about a month later (i had another car and told them to take their time and make everything right) i got my jeep back and found out my bill is almost $1300 ( to basically rebuild the rear end and install the brakes..) so now ive got disc brakes but i need to reroute the brake cables to make them more off road friendly and probably get another e brake cable that is long enough to get some flex.. they cut the one i supplied down to make easier to route ? but i think they cut it a little too short.. on top of that it took them about a week to figure out (actually i figured it out for them) that they had the calipers upside down so it wouldnt bleed correctly.. and now i also have a fluid leak from the new proportioning valve i had them throw in... and the kick in the ***** on top of all that..? i was lookin on craigslist this week and someone posted a dana 44 rear end with disc brakes already installed for 550 on the same day i picked mine up.. lol... so ya im a dumbass.. i usually work on my own rig but felt like i didnt really know enough info to preform the swap.. hindsights always 20/20... live and learn right?? hahahahaha!! what pisses me off the most though is that 1700 bucks came out of my jeep fund.. saving for a longarm kit... i was sooo close...
well im done venting.. i just wanted to tell someone im an idiot.. i feel much better now.
