Icelandoffroad Fiberglass bumpers
While searching around the INTER net and avoiding doing my assignment i came across this website.
http://icelandoffroad.com/index.html
Just to dream and such i was lookin at some of their bumpers. They have super nice gorgeous bumpers. The best i've seen, i think personally, that flow with the lines of the body, high clearance angles etc. Then i saw it was made out of fiberglass....
Now i'm not too sure about fiberglass as i have never worked with it...They say its made out of 1/4" fiberglass, now how comparable is that too steel plate? I know thin fiberglass fenders break on a dime. Could this be a serious contender in the ability to take a beating and abuse and still hold up?
Whats your guy's thoughts on that. I may actually consider getting this if the protection is comparable to a steel bumper.

The fiberglass, if laid correctly, can be just as strong a steel. These bumpers are very similar in compression strength.....The only thing that they do not have on steel is the same tensile strength. But it is close.... All that means is if you have 2 trucks pulling your bumper in the same direction the steel would hold up better than the fiberglass... But thats about the only draw back, For their price though i would buy a steel one..... i have some favorites of mine that are cheap....(ish)

fiberglass can be pretty impressive stuff. like he said ^ if the right mixtures are used and it is layed out properly it is amazingly strong and way lighter than steel.

I like the fenderflairs...someone should try putting their bushwackers under that jeep...
So if the tensil strength isnt as great how do you think about the way they have their shackles? Looks like two bolts holding em on.

Y'all want to stay away from these guys ... there's a thread in JF or NAXJA about them. Poor business practices plus it seems they're going under.

Interesting read. just sounds like they need to work on a couple kinks. Once they work that out, i think they'd make quite a bit. The products seem killer

I wouldn't buy anything from them. There's a zj up here in the PNW that runs the fenders and front bumper. The front driver and rear passenger fenders cracked in half from the unibody flexing. The front winch bumper did the same on the passenger side when he rubbed it on a tree. He didn't hit the tree hard at all. Also the customer service sucks with that company.
Buy some real bumpers!
