I need some help
I have a 1989 cheorkee 4.0,4X4 of course, I dont drive it much but I have been for the last few days, I noticed I gear shifter moves forward when I start to slow down to stop,it feels like the driveline is bent when you drive down the road the jeep sort of wobbles. Had new tires put on and balanced it needed them but all so to make sure it wasnt a tire out of balance. Like I said I dont drive it much but it seems to be getting worst, Ex-father in law said transmission bearing and I should sell but I think its a U-joint. anyone have any ideas? oh ya I forgot to tell you its a stick shift.

I would say your issue is either a bad U-joint or a rear pinion bearing is bad. Give your rear drive shaft a good shake near one U-joint then the other. If it moves side to side at all, the U-joint is bad. If your DS and U-joints are solid I'm guessing a rear diff. pinion issue. Oh, this could also be a TC rear output bearing issue.

I could be wrong, I actually just got my first jeep, but I've had alot of old hot rods and such. To me it sounds like I could be a busted motor mount or tranny mount...
