I'm really into 4x4's and until recently, I've been driving a Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 for many years. Then, along came Hurricane Irma. It threw a 2 ton palm tree through the roof / Sunroof, caving it in.
State Farm Insurance gave me a great replacement value of close to $13K, due to the exceptional condition, so I used it to buy a great looking 2008 Jeep Cherokee Limited with a 5.7 Hemi in 2 WD. It only has 78K miles and looks like it was kept in a garage. Paid $11K. I once owned a 1953 ****** Jeep with a Hurricane 4 cylinder, but I'm new to Cherokees.
My plan is to buy another 4x4 Jeep in a Renegade or Wrangler style or possibly a Cherokee. This purchase was made to be a drive-to-the-
office vehicle. Any thoughts or recommendations?
2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with almost every option possible including sunroof, leather and tow package. 5.7 Hemi The 2 tone leather interior is like new.

Exactly correct. My Dad and I found this 53 *****'s at a Gulf gas station, under a tarp, back in 1974. We built a home made roll bar and put 2 T-Bird high back bucket seats in it. The seats, tires and top were gone. 3 speed stick and a hand crank wiper on the passenger side. A very long stroke 4 cylinder for sure. It would climb up a wall. The Warn hubs were like new as I remember. We put a soft top and soft doors on it. Bought for $700...sold some years later for $3000.00. Loved that little beast. LOL

I really really like the three shifter sticks and "on the fly" shifting! I left mine original because of the Military value, but the only problem they have is the steering linkage arrangement. Most back in the day would convert them to a ford power steering box and linkage. And with 15 inch tires instead of the original 16's they really are not a freeway vehicle. I have to wind the heck out of mine just to do 55.
I was lucky if I got it up to 45 mph. Stayed off I-95... LOL mostly local street and the beach. Back then, parts were hard to find and no internet. We built a 3 point tow bat and would tow it to Ocala Florida for hunting in the woods. I sure miss it. I'm 60 years old now and I've slowed down some.

That's all we used mine for over the years, just running around in the desert here locally. All three of my girls learned to drive at a very young age in this thing. Put it in low range and let them have at it. lol
