that vid is proof of what happens when you've got lockers and no experience.
i can see how it can happen, he couldn't see the top and thought he was still climbing. but as with most inexperienced wheelers, they like to get heavy on the skinny. this was just not the time to do that. hope he learned from his mistake.

He is just trying to climb it. The hill is really steep to begin with, and when the front end left the ground, he couldn't tell right away. It was too late so quickly that no one could tell him what was going on. Crawling nice-n-slow would have been the way to go. I do not think getting any air or jumping was their intention.

It sucks big time though. I am sure the result was not what they were shooting for, in any case

If you don't know how to do it...don't do it, much less if you don't have a rig set up for rock crawling.

Everyone starts out some were in time you'll see it as just a speed bump and a mud puttle. Remember the skinny peddle is your friend! Lol

How steep of a hill can a stock zj climb safely without risk of doing an end over
If you cant make it up those hills....I think you have bigger things to worry about. IMO

i don't think he even knew the front wheels left the ground. if he was open diff, there would've been a totally different outcome. one wheel would've slipped, and the front end would've come right down. possibly not straight, but he wouldn't have flipped backwards like that.

i've been there, well, not "there", but with a locker and big gushy suspension, you can't tell whether the ground under the wheels disappears or not, so with that and not being able to see the ground, you think your still climbing. chit can go wrong before you even know it. it happens all the time.

inexperience can kill, so that's why it's better to be more capable than your rig.

i've wheeled the same trails open that i do now with a locker. it's like night and day.

i have climbed worse hills in 2 wheel drive. if your wife is scared about something like that then she would cry if she seen some of us 4 wheel. i have had my front wheels aboout 3 feet off the ground when i com over some of the steep hills i climb.i have drove sideways on hills like that.

No matter what...I will ALWAYS play it safe.
You will never see me trying to show off...'cause thats when s*** happens.

I think...
Its all the excitement and emotion that builds up, and somewhere in your head, you think youre "invincible" all of a sudden. Which can lead to some pretty stupid decisions...like that video for example....everyone was cheering him on and he got "caught up in the moment" and just floored it, not paying attention too anything else.
Im not saying that, that is "exactly" what happen...but Ive been in a situation similar to something like that, where you think youre "invincible" and....s*** happened ...Its how I buried 3/4 of my front axle, in a sand marsh
