How much is my XJ realistically worth?
Considering selling my toy, but only because I might need some seed money for a cross country move. There's nothing seriously wrong with it and I'm only asking here so I have a starting point for how much money I could plan to get from selling my XJ. It's not a panic sell and I have at the very least a few months even if I decide to sell it now.
The details are in my profile and build thread but the basics: 1990 XJ Pioneer, RENIX, 4x4 with AX-15 5-speed and I think D33. 156k on the clock.
Besides the stuff in the build thread, the following was fixed within the last few months:
A/C blows cold and works
Windshield wiper switch fixed (wipers still a bit sluggish though, probably a motor swap needed to get it 100%)
Full tune-up including plugs/wires and a CPS for good measure
New air hose (goes from the bottom of the air cleaner to the engine block somewhere)
Reverse lights fixed by replacing the NSS (or whatever the equivalent part is on my setup) so now all external lights work 100%
The interior is pretty clean for its age too, as you see. It has no spare tire (I bought it without one) and it has not been modded whatsoever, except for the front bumper. Good starting point for someone who wants to put money into lifting it, getting new tires, etc. I figured I'd wear the current tires out more before doing that stuff.
I have taken her off-road and she did great, old stock stuff and all. Poster ck1 can attest to this, and can vouch for its general condition also.

Ryan, that sucks that you are thinking of getting rid of it...as far as value...I was offered 6000 cash $$ for mine at the Big bear Jamboree this weekend and i turned it down...ALWAYS start high at 3 K and see what bites..I really think with all you have done mechanically tires etc it is worth at least 2k if not more...fix that rt front and throw a macco paint job on it and i am sure would get 3k for it

yes a maaco paint job will certainly increase value for someone who doesn't care about how it looks long term, or doesn't know what they're looking at

I had maaco paint my one of my bumpers. It was less than half of what other body shops would do it for and most wouldn't touch it because of spider cracks on the plastic. I did all the prep work and it came out great.
Now that I found factory matching spray paint (automotivetouchup), I wouldn't bother taking it anywhere.

The last time I buffed it was about 2 years back. That's just meguiars waxes in the tan bottles one coat glaze and carnauba all put on by hand. I detailed cars for a living for a few years about 8 years ago.

I know I've been tempted to take a car or two to Macco, but I've always wound up selling whatever car I had before I took it to them.

Nice seeing the Miata Flex need to post that in the Flex thread. If Im not mistaken most if not all Maaco's are Franchises so alot depends on the franchisee and what type of work they wanna put out.
