How much do I need to worry about this?
Posted this in another thread, but never got any response on it, so figured I would ask again.
Started prepping to do some of the work I have been putting off. In the process I decided to take off my front bumper caps to trim them up and repaint. After I got them off I discovered that my Vacuum Ball (or whatever that thing is called) is not connected at all. I've had my XJ for nearly 2 years and just now realized this was not hooked up properly.
Aside from the Cruise Cntrl, what else relies on this thing? So far the XJ runs pretty well, I have only had a few not start and overheating issues.
And after that I got curious about how bad the damage was from the 2 collisions that showed up on that free Carfax, so I took the whole front grill assembly off and discovered this (sorry crappy camera).
How bad is this? Is this going to give me problems later on if I decide to add a different bumper or anything? Most importantly, should I be worried about this?

I hate it when you're looking for input & don't get any responses....
From the pictures you're showin' I'd say you're probably okay with what you've got there, never hurts to get it fixed though. If you were going to add a heavy duty bumper later you'd probably want to get the steel welded up & fixed. It don't think it'd be too much or if you have a friend that could weld that up I think it'd be pretty easy.
Good luck..

Thanks for the response Caronaxtr. For now I think I will just stick original bumper. Later when finances are looking better I will have to see about getting it fixed. No friends that can weld, lol. I do eventually want to add a different bumper with recovery points.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

I have suspected front end damage for a while, but could never confirm it through the PO (she refused to answer my questions when I asked about it later). There is a thread here where someone posted a link to a free Carfax type report (not actually Carfax) and it mentioned one collision report and one damage report for mine. This is why I decided to take the grill off and have a better look.
