Default How much is the 29 spline 8.25 W/Aussie worth?

A guy I work with said he'd practically give me a 8.8 with disc brakes, the Lsd, and the 4.10s for free. Trying to figure out how much my current axle would be worth? It's only got 3.55s in it now but what do you think I could sell it for?

I planned on regearing either way so that's not a big deal, and I'm not excited about the idea of the lsd instead of a locker but he said you can shim them so tight they almost act like a spool.

If the 8.25 could he sold for enough to cover the price of the swap assuming the 8.8 was almost free then I'm considering doing it. I don't plan on going bigger than the 35's, and I've heard the 8.25 is fine locked with 35s but he's convinced it's a garbage axle and I'd be better off with the 8.8

8.8 is stronger...
I'd say the 825 is worth 250
The 825 should hold up fine though..if I upgrade my rear axle I am going for a non c clip axle

I realize all the benefits of the 8.8 over the 8.25, but I thought the 29 so 8.25 was a pretty good axle. Maybe I was mistaken? I had no intentions on doing any swaps but he's kinda got me talked into it lol.

I've wheeled my 8.25 a good amount and so far I have no complaints. The whole thing started when I was talking to him about regearing and he said it's not worth the money to put gears in a 8.25.

He's retarded. The only axle i'd never regear is a D35.

Im thinking his idea of a strong axle and mine are way different. He's got a big block, and 60's under his turning 42's. He's built it for skinny pedal wheeling and no braking lol.

He's simply trying to unload an axle on you thet you really don't need.

Stick with the 8.25".

That explains it. It is a waste if you plan on changing axles soon, but other than that it's perfectly normal to regear an 8.25. I'll be regearing mine eventually.

Has anyone ever heard of breaking a 29 spline 8.25 locked on 35's? I mean, unless they were really giving it to her hard? I think I'll just take his axle and regear the 8.25 anyways LOL.
