How Many Cherokee XJs are left?
I just been woundering about this. I know their is a poll of how many Cherokee XJs were build "Post link to that" but is it possible to know how many of our Cherokee XJs are left in the U.S.? I think once a vehicle is gone/wreaked the VIN gets a Salvaged title. Does those get recored to some database?

I would take the total number and cut a 1/4 off that should be close to whats left.

I've heard the same stories from numerous techs.
|
I seen a lot of those cash for clunkers videos the best one was a ford 460 it lasted 8 mins most lasted like 3 mins tho.
|
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what does cash for clunkers do to cars?
|
It was the goverment thing to get older vehicles off the road. can trade in any old vehicle to get a new one. dont remeber how much was given tho. But at the JY Ive seen alot of XJs brand new looking no rust on them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_Allowance_Rebate_System
And I guess some people from what I heard seen some good looking trucks on the lot that were traded for the program, and offered to buy and were not allowed to buy them. "The not dismatled ones" |
How would they 'kill' the cars?
|
Cash for clunkers was a ****ing joke. They would lt you trade in a perfectly good 12 year old XJ to buy a Toyota...it didn't do anything but make the japs more money and waste energy and resources building new cars.
The 4.0s don't go down without a fight, but its sad to watch...I know a few we're saved before being killed and crushed though. As for how many are left? 2.8 million were built, nowadays, I'd say around 1.5 million are still on the road...you see them by the dozens, and here in the northeast you dot see many 10-15 year old vehicles in the same numbers as you do XJs. There's a ton left, but they aren't going to Make more anytime soon, we need to make them last...and use junk XJs to keep ours going. |
if you dont remember cash for clunkers, consider yourself lucky.
what a scam that was. and xjs will be with us for a while longer.. i still see perfectly good straight stock ones by the dozens round here. |

Mine probably has the road salt damage, but will be getting it fixed. Already have the new panels. Heres images of my underneith: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/19...49861/index15/
I just watched 2 videos and its sad seeing the Cherokee one, It took about 5min for the Cherokee and a Mazda "Ranger" about 1min. The Cherokee looked like a 89-90 year, no rust really just needed touching up. |
