Makes me miss my old 78 Bronco. Mine was on 42 with 5" and sat about like that. Miss the 460 too.

Quote: WOOO man, nice XJ...as for the Bronco, its too high and too ridiculous, not practical
The bronco has 9" of lift in it. It's actually not THAT high, just the tires make it seem so high. The suspension actually works pretty good it's all done right. He's putting a slightly smaller tire on it and cutting the fenders so it works.
Dana 60s front and rear, healthy 460, c6, np205.
Quote: X2 bet he gets 5mpg
If that haha
Quote: Where in ct are you?
Windham. You?
Quote: Engine work actually isn't bad. There's a lot of room up in the engine bay so you can actually sit up in 'em to work. If you need to pull the engine out, you just swap on some tiny rollers.
Yea he climbs in the engine bay almost every day dialing in the carb.
Quote: that bronco is a beast i like how all the lifted vehicles dont have headlight bezels
I noticed that too what's up with that? I'm almost starting to not want to put mine on haha
Quote: the guy with the bronco went overkill in my opinion What sizetires does he have on it?
44s. He's in love with 79s. The 44s are going on his 79 150 mud truck which has the same drivetrain but only 6" lift and boatsided. The Bronco is the street/trail rig and a 79 250 with a 12v cummins for a tow rig.

My buddy used to have one of these Broncos with the 460 in it that he did a bunch of motor work to...... What an animal. He had 49" Iroks on it and still ate up sports cars on the street. Who cares about fuel mileage when you've got that much power?

Yea, my son's 79 has a built 540 in it running 44s and is amazing in sand. It is like seeing a Sahara sand storm, like in the movies. ( Scary fast! )

here's how to make your xj look large - 1-ton axles & 40" tires with about 8" of lift, stretch the wheelbase about 6", and cut the fenders out to fit...

eh, might as well pull out the big guns with a local truck.
