My comanche sat for 12 years before I bought it. 2 weeks later I drove it 100 miles from Pennsylvania to Maryland. Not a single problem. i drive it every day. (school and work) Great trucks.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to talk the future wife into it right now. She is just worried about the long drive in a bumpy jeep. But I'm all in!

I drive mine about 400 miles a week to and from work. I'm taking it 700 miles round trip to PCB and back in two weeks. No worries at all here. 245k miles too

Just make sure you watch your temps out on the road. Check your fluids. Bring spare parts and tools if you're that worried about it.

hell with the right size trailer you could bring a whole nother jeep, welder, plasma cutter, torches etc.

also consider...she is your future wife, you better make damn sure that thing doesn't break down or you'll never see her in it again lol

Lol. Trailer a parts jeep with you.

I'd just recommend a spare serp belt and tools to change it besides the usually jack and tire iron for a blown tire.

I've had a serp belt go out, you get no where fast without one.

Gf and me made a road trip summer of -11 with our 1990 XJ. Over 4000 km, about 2400 miles with no issues. Did bring a spare serp belt but that was it.

Planning another trip in 2 weeks, about 2000 km so half, with our new 1997 XJ.
Stop worrying, Jeeps and XJ's in particular, are awesome!

Drove from Westminster, MD to San Antonio, tx in a '88 after flushing the cooling and replacing rms, valve cover, and drain and fill the trans. Made it with no problems until I got there and my ps pump went up.
