You can just pry one of the front doors at the top corner enough to get something in to hit the locks. REALLY easy with power locks.
Around these parts though you can just reach up through the floor. Lol

^This, if I'm going to leave mine unattended for an extended period of time (more than a few days, especially if I'm traveling and leaving it in an airport parking lot or something) or in a bad area I usually yank the coil to dist wire and/or pull the ASD relay, and never leave anything of value in it. XJs are ridiculously easy both to break into and to steal (with the exception of some of the later models when equipped with the sentry key, but even on the last 00-01 models the sentry key was only an option, not standard equipment, and thus generally only found on higher trims).

If you are really worried - an aftermarket alarm is super easy to wire up if you just want basic alarm functions.
Just wire it to the door light, and if the door opens without deactivating the alarm it will go off.
$25 is hard to beat, probably take 2-3 hours to just install the alarm and shock sensor function
