It's about as capable as a 3 inch weiner. If you're confident with what you have, and know how to use it, things will be just fine. If not, you'll be watching from the sidelines.

Ok thanks everyone. I'm debating between a 3/3.5 inch lift or going all out the first time and going long arms from the start. I think if I go 3 I'll want to go higher and I just wasted all that money on a lift I don't want anymore. I want a 4.5 inch lift on 32s or 5.5 on 33s of I go long arms. Obviously if I go long arms I will have to wait longer to save up $$$$
No 32s. Don't do it.

My $.02..
3" lift is the sweet spot for the xj.. You dont have to eff w/driveline vibes (for the most part), steering angles, etc etc.. once you go past 3", the domino effect starts, and you will spending cash.
I miss my 3" xj that i started with. I went to 4.5" and it was nickel and diming me to finish it "right".. I had 34s, and it was a good rig, but it was a lot slower, wasted more gas, less predictable, turning radius, i just didnt like it anymore.
then i had a zj w/front and rear long arms on 4.5" and 35s. it was an awesome trail rig, but i hated that thing on the street. sold that and now i bought a stock xj. going 3", 31" f/r lockers, gears, adjustables, frame stiffeners, skids and recovery. should be a good dual duty rig. the bigger you go, the more you will wear out parts, and the more you will have to upgrade. my $.02
