Default Hood Laatch

The relay in the hood release mechanism is seized up and the wire broke. I was thinking about getting a wrangler hood latch and mounting it to my 1997 XJ. Anyone have suggestions or comments?

Just put hood pins on it if you don't want to replace the current latch.

seen people with them before. Don't know where they mount them. Maybe googling it would result in some pictures, videos or write-ups

I think two little pins look better than the wrangler rubber strap things. And two metal pins will hold the hood down better than two rubber straps. I don't understand why you don't just replace the hood latch and have nothing on the outside.

try the junkyard. Use some lubricant on all latch parts.

cmon. Be real. That won't look right with the stock hood. He need to replace the hood with a piece of plywood in order to use those stuff you just recommended. It ll look aesthetically better.

Next time don't give out bad advice. LOL

i dont have any plywood but i do have an extra storm door. If i cut that to size it should work like a charm!

that ll be even better. That way you can really get a grip when you open it up. And when it get hot in the summer, you can just slide the glass over to use the screen portion to cool the engine down!
