Default Homemade snorkel?

Did anyone know how to make a homemade snorkel? I don't want to pay $300 for something that I will not use all time...

Techincally, unless you remove it, you would use it all the time (= I've seen some made out of PVC pipe, looks kinda lame tho. As long as you seal it properly, you shouldn't have any problems.

It's fairly easy...completely seal a tube from your intake to somewhere higher. But unless you're going to seal all your electrical and other things that are vulnerable to water, then it's really quite pointless...unless you're going for the look, in which case, I'd say save up and buy a safari snorkel, cuz it'll look better.

Just my opinion though.

here check this site out for the best snorkel.
http://dpgoffroad.com/

you don't have to relocate your washer bottle and it slim on the side so you can trim fenders more or fit bushwackers.

I see a Snorkel as an investment in motor protection. Easiest way to kill an XJ is to suck some water into the motor. All the electrics that get wet usual work fine after drying out, and if not its still cheaper then a long block.... I got my snorkel from 4x4rockshop.com... Also snorkels have been known to increase highway mileage by 1-2mpg and provide an increase in HP while rolling due to a quasi ram air effect. But with all things mechanical or electrical your mileage may vary

It's hmmwv. Stands for highly mobile military wheeled vehicle. ( Army Vet) I'm making a snorkel out of PVC pipe. A buddy made on with a paint can and PVC.

I'm getting ready to tackle and homemade one on my XJ here in the next 30 days. i will let you know and post some pics on how it turns out if plans don't change. If i can make em look nice i'll move it to my ZJ too. I'd rather be throwing on some lockers BUT currently with the birth of my second son, budget tightens up a little :-)
